Commission Information
Some people have shown interest in commissions from me for costumes. Here’s some basic information if you’re interested:
~I have been sewing all my life, for as long as I can remember. I learned to hand sew in elementary school, started doing embroidery at around age 8, and learned to use a sewing machine around age 10. I started sewing garments when I was 18. I taught myself quite a bit and also took classes at school (I ended up adding an emphasis in costume design to my major of theatre arts). So, while I don’t think I would call myself professional, I do have quite a bit of experience and a degree that directly relates to it.
~Prices depend on the costume. I base my prices on how much materials will cost me and how long I estimate the costume to take me to make. I have a pretty good idea of how much most materials will cost me; if I don’t know I research before coming up with a quote. The quote is what you will be charged (plus shipping); if I end up spending a lot more time because I underestimated how long something will take, I won’t charge more.
~I do require 50% up front for materials. This is non- refundable unless for some reason I cannot complete the commission (this has only happened once due to an injury that kept me from sewing).
~I have never missed a deadline for a costume. I make sure that I have enough time and am capable of doing what is needed before taking on a commissions; if I have any doubt that I will be able to do it, I will turn it down because I want to make sure that you get something you can be proud of.
~Commission slots are booked based on when the deposit is made; once it is paid, the slot will be secured.
If you are interested in a commission, you can send a message here or to my e-mail (kirakirawigsales@gmail.com) with the following information:
~Character
~Reference images of that costume (if it’s something I obviously know, like Rapunzel, you can skip this)
~Fabric preferences (if you have them. I’m more than happy to discuss different fabric options if you’re not sure what you want to use)
~Due date
Thank you so much!
